Black & Decker Electromate 400

In 2009, I paid almost one hundred dollars for a Black & Decker Electromate 400, rechargeable powerstation. Having this device gave me comfort that I did not have to rely on anyone if my car battery died. No need to call anyone to help. No waiting. No need to hassle strangers. All I had to do is open my trunk, pull out the powerstation, and jump start my own car.
Since having the powerstation, I have only had to jump my car once. Most of the time I used the Electromate to add air to my tires.
Recently when I had to use it for an outdoor event, I noticed that it never held a fulll charge (even after leaving it plugged in overnight). I was also surprised by the fact that the air compressor no longer worked.
The Electromate worked beautifully for almost two years, but being that it suddenly an unexpectantly became a dud, I am thankful that I did not need it during a road trip. I purchased the powerstation from Walmart. I still have the receipt and luckly I paid for a one year replacement plan which starts after the manufacturer warranty ends. Being that the powerstation had a two year warranty, and I purchased it on September 18, 2009, I would say that the $5.88 that I paid for the replacement plan was well worth the money. Hopefully I will have the option of getting a different brand.
